Information about the tank:

• The sovjet medium tank T-54 was built since 1947 and is one of the most produced tanks of the world with 40.000 tanks.
• The turret of the T-54 has been changed for two times until 1951. Since 1951 the third version T-54-3 has been produced until the end of production.
• 1200 turrets of the first version were used for stationary defense at the chinese border.
• The T-54 was used for the first time during the hungarian national uprising against civilians.
• Afterwards it was used in the Six-Day-War on syrian end egyptian side against Israel.
• In the Jom-Kippur war in 1973 there were heavy fights between T-54 on syrian end egyptian side against israelic Centurion (british) and M60 (US american) tanks. Despite the fact that the T-54 were more modern than the older Centurions and the Egypt and Syrian forces had much more tanks than the Israel Defence Force, the advantage of a low silhouette proved to be a disadvantage as the gun barrel could not be risen high enough against the higher Centurions which were fighting from an upper position on hills to a lower position of the T-54 as the Centurions had a better angle for the gun barrel.
• During the India-Pakistani war T-54 were used by the indish army against pakistani Type 59 tanks built in China as a copy of T-54 tanks.
• In Vietnam war the T-54 was used by the north vietnamese side against the US american M48 Patton tanks on the south vietnamese side.
• In Cambodia it was used for infantry support.
• The T-54 was used in several conflicts in the algerian civil war, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia.
• On the arabian peninsula is was used in several conflicts. In the first golf war against chinese tanks again and in the second golf war against modern US american and british tanks which were overwhelming the T-54 - no wonder due to the age of the T-54.
• In the jugoslavian wars the T-54 tank was used by all parties.
• The T-54 was used in the movie "The beast" on the sovjet-afghan side against the Mudschahedin, which takes place in Afghanistan in 1987.

The T-55 was introduced in 1960 as a successor of the T-54. It had the following improvements:

• A more powerful engine
• More ammunition for the gun
• A stabilized gun
• A changed gear
